L/Cpl. Gwyn Ifor Thomas

L/Cpl. Gwyn Ifor Thomas, formerly of the South Wales Borderers, served with No.1 (Bicycle) Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, December 1943.

L/Cpl. Gwyn Thomas was reported as being Killed in Action (KIA) on 10th June 1944, aged 24 years.

Gwyn was the son of Herbert and Edith May Thomas, of Risca, Monmouthshire, and was laid to rest in Ranville War Cemetry (Calvados, France). Grave IIIA.N.2.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘Greater love hath no man than this. That a man lay down his life for his friends’.
